Welcome to the Young Park Master Plan Project

Located at 850 South Walnut Street, Young Park is one of Las Cruces’ most treasured public spaces. With its scenic pond, inclusive playgrounds, and paved loop trail, the park is a hub for outdoor recreation and community gathering. It offers a wide range of amenities, including benches, shelters, picnic tables, restrooms, tennis courts, and even a duck pond stocked with catfish for fishing—making it a vibrant destination for people of all ages.

Why a Master Plan?

As our city continues to grow and evolve, so do the needs of our residents. To ensure Young Park remains a safe, inclusive, and well-loved community space, the City of Las Cruces is launching a new master plan that builds on recent improvements and community priorities.

In recent years, the park has seen important upgrades:

  • A new group pavilion was constructed in 2021
  • Irrigation systems were improved in 2023

However, in recent years, community conversations have highlighted the need for thoughtful, safety-focused park design. The Young Park Master Plan presents an opportunity to respond with care—fostering a space that promotes well-being, connection, and a renewed sense of trust and comfort for all who visit.

Get Involved

Your input is essential. Throughout this process, we’ll be hosting surveys, map-based feedback opportunities, and public workshops. This is your chance to share ideas, highlight needs, and help reimagine Young Park as a place of joy, safety, and connection.

Together, let’s plan a park that reflects the heart of Las Cruces.
